Any active member of the New York Section may apply to carry a section flag. Members seeking to carry the section flag should contact the Flag Committee with a general description of the intended expedition or goal at least 90 days before the departure date. After an initial determination that the expedition or goal meets the base requirements for carrying of the section flag, the applying member will receive(electronically) a formal written application at least 60 days prior to the departure date.

The application must be immediately completed and returned to the committee no later than 45 days prior to the departure date. The Flag Committee will convene (electronically is acceptable) and complete the selection process. Applicants will be notified upon selection as a Section Flag Expedition.

Up to three Section Expeditionary Flags will be presented to members of the selected expeditions per year. Flag awarding and returns may occur at the Annual Dinner.
